排灯节(Diwali Festival),在印度、尼泊尔是非常重要的全国性节日,庆祝“以光明驱走黑暗,以善良战胜邪恶”。这个节日对于印度教徒的意义,相当于圣诞节对于基督教徒的意义、农历新年对中国人的意义。
由于它的重要地位和隆重庆祝仪式,很多对印度稍有了解的“外人”甚至将其误认为是印度新年。
排灯节在全球范围内的接受度很高,除了印度和尼泊尔,全世界还有很多国家如斐济、新加坡、马来西亚,以及有大量印度人聚居的地方如加拿大、美国、英国、南非以及新西兰都会庆祝排灯节。
2021年的排灯节日期是从11月4日开始。排灯节持续5天,其中第三天是节日的高潮,烟火和各种节日的灯,会照亮黑暗的夜晚。
排灯节的寓意对于从事商贸的人来说尤其重要,因为这个节日是在祈求财富之神(拉克什米Lakshmi) 的祝福。她是印度象征财富与繁荣的女神。
印度人相信财富之神是在排灯节期间,在翻腾的海洋中诞生的,而在排灯节这五天,她会带着繁荣与财富挨家挨户造访。
据说她会先从最干净的家庭开始。因此人们在点灯邀请女神进门前,都会打扫保持家中清洁,部分印度家庭会在家供奉小尊的女神像。
排灯节前夜,印度人会把家里和公司里彻底打扫一遍。洗衣服、收拾房间、整理好所有文件,差不多有点春节前大扫除的意思。然后,他们会用传统的蓝果丽(Rangoli)样式的图案把家里和公司走廊装饰一番,比如铃铛、花环、壁挂、镜子、LED灯,这是在为财富之神的到来营造欢乐的氛围。

排灯节的第一天,印度人习惯上街买些餐具、装饰品。节日期间,随便走进印度的一家商店,都能看到各式各样的彩灯。(基本都是中国制造)
而在节日期间的傍晚,家家户户都会在屋子周围点上小煤油灯(diyas), 有时还要再点上一些蜡烛。这些灯光象征知识和一个人内心的光明,能驱走所有的蒙昧和黑暗,给人带来心灵深处的宁静。
寺庙则更热闹,只要有印度教的庙宇都会大排长龙,印度教的善男信女们都会来点灯祈福,交换礼物。
排灯节的第三天则是节日的最高潮,将会有盛大的烟火表演,妇女们一般都要穿上一种叫做sari的印度传统裙装,男人们则穿着民族风格的kurthas。
此外,为了祈求财富之神Lakshmi的护佑,这一天还会举行“Lakshmi pooja”仪式,仪式程序相当复杂,感兴趣的朋友可以搜索来看看。
排灯节的最后一天则留给兄弟姐妹,重视家庭的印度人为彼此间血浓于水的羁绊感到骄傲,他们习惯给手足们做顿饭,准备一份礼物,并彼此祝愿长命百岁。
