Abstract
The cases of financial fraud in the elderly have occurred frequently, causing serious harm to the society and the family, and also infringing on the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly. The government and the society must take effective measures to prevent the financial fraud risk of the elderly. Based on the questionnaire data and in-depth interviews of the elderly in Beijing, the the-sis conducts empirical research on the status quo of financial fraud in the elderly. The survey be-lieves that the elderly use online payment tools such as Alipay and WeChat, and the elderly can understand online investment information and old age. People's own risk prevention awareness is weak, the elderly have enough leisure time to participate in health product briefings and invest-ment financial lectures, the elderly have their own savings, and some elderly people have a strong willingness to pursue high returns. These factors increase the risk of financial fraud for the elderly. Based on the analysis of the root causes of financial fraud, the paper puts forward policies and suggestions to prevent the elderly from being financially defrauded from the perspectives of the government, society, families and the elderly.
