1. The Current Situation of _______
About “cultural context”, there has been no an exact definition so far. For my part, cultural context refers to the entire cultural background related to the culture the language-users are in. Culture is a wider system that completely includes language as a subsystem. Language and culture are closely related to each other. As cultures are diverse, so languages are diverse. It is natural then that with differences in cultures and languages, difficulties often arise in communication between cultures. Understanding is not always easy, especially for culture-loaded words. And these words may contain some cultural connotations and obviously mirror cultural characteristics; therefore, it is very difficult to translate them correctly. Cross-cultural communication is made up of exchange of customs, traditions, social habits, values, beliefs and languages, etc. The cultural exchanges are mainly conducted by the translation of different languages, and translation works to bridge the cultural gap between two words and makes communication possible between different linguistic communities. Cultural context is one of the most important linguistic categories in the study of language use and its function, therefore, it shouldn’t be neglected that culture will affect translation. Different nations have different cultures; therefore, cross-cultural communication involves different kinds of cultures. Culture is all aspects of life, the totality of meanings, ideas and beliefs shared by individuals with a group of people. Culture is learned, it includes language, values, norms, customs. It is important, as translators to view and assess translation on their own cultural terms from within their original cultural contexts. As we begin to see from others’ intercultural vantage points, appreciation moves beyond observing from the outside, where we only see in terms of our own cultural experiences, and move toward more authentic cross-cultural understanding.
The term “cultural context may be known a little, but as we know, cultural context in translation is related to the culture to most content. So, to talk about cultural context, we must

get a clear idea to the relationship between culture and translation in the first place”1.
