One is not born able to speak a language. One is born able to make a noise. I have heard babies cry in America and in China. I can't tell any difference. But when I hear someone from America speak English and hear someone speak Chinese, I can tell you there are a lot of differences.
I believe a common problem with Chinese students' learning English is that they were not taught to think in English. They have an idea spoken in English and want to translate the idea into Chinese, then they think in Chinese of the proper reply and translate it into English. After a long period of speaking the language, one begins to think in the foreign language naturally. You will learn faster if you begin to think in English at the very beginning of your study. Many students ask me: What can I do to improve my spoken English? My reply is : The more English you speak, the better English you will speak. There are many things you can do to improve your spoken English. Of course, the best way is to live where English is spoken as a language of the country.

Many teenagers feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members don’t know them as well as their friends do. In large families, it is quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for some ideas.
It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a group of friends. Even when they are not with their friends, they usually spend a lot of time talking among themselves on the phone. This communication is very important in children’s growing up, because friends can discuss something. These things are difficult to tell their family members.
However, parents often try to choose their children’s friends for them. Some parents may even stop their children from meeting their good friends. Have you ever thought of the following questions? Who chooses your friends?

One of the special features of English people is self-discipline . Generally, English people are polite and always want to please others. On the other hand, they don’t like to show their emotions, even in dangerous situations. Imagine the scene! Some English people are caught in a violent storm in the forest. Anybody else would be anxious to run away. The English would just try to hide their emotions. Not a sign of fear would be seen on their faces.
We often hear of the English \often there won’t be a single word spoken during the whole journey. The English think it is a bad manner to ask personal questions. That wouldn’t be the case in America. In a short ride in New York, a taxi driver will tell you about himself, his wife and his family, and probably the towns of England he has visited, too.
The English value privacy very much. An Englishman’s house usually has a small garden with a fence all around to separate it from the neighbors’. An Englishman’s house is his castle.
Finally, we have to refer to the most special feature of the Scottish people —the Scottish dress. Scotland is probably best known to the world for its traditional costume —the kilt. This short, skirt-like piece of clothing is worn by men.

Stop wasting your time thinking of reasons for your failures and shortcomings. Instead, realize that the seeds of success were planted within you when you were born. Only you have the power to make those seeds grow.
The seeds and the power to grow them are contained in the human mind. Success is a choice but not a chance. You can be a success if only you make the right choice.
You cannot be successful without first developing yourself- esteem.Your level of self- esteem is always based on the degree of control that you are able to exercise over yourself, and thus over your life. People with low self- esteem do not believe that they have any power,or responsibility for their lives. They are leaves tossed by the winds of chance brought about with any sudden change in the weather.
You can exercise control over your life only to the degree that you believe that you are responsible for whatever happens in your life. Failures think that everything happens by accident while successful people realize that they are responsible.
Everything happens as a result of something. If we can identify the cause,we can control the effect. We are responsible for what we consciously choose to accept and believe. Thoughts and beliefs cause everything. Our attitudes and actions are a result of habits ingrained in us over a period of time. One generally rises to the level that one expects. We are responsible for setting our expectations. Our success

depends upon our level of confidence. We are responsible for either reinforcing good habits or kicking bad habits and consciously replacing them with consistently practiced good habits.
If you associate with positive- thinking people, you are definitely going to achieve success. On the contrary, the opposite happens. We are responsible for finding, planting, and nurturing the seeds that contain future victory, born from setbacks.
In short,in all areas of your life, whether they are financial, physical, emotional,or spiritual, you are responsible. Once you recognize this, accept it,and firmly believe it,you are on the road to success. 12.Losers would think that________.
