Help students to know the basic usage of the present continuous tense. 2) Difficult point

How to make students use the new grammar to communicate with others in the real situations.

3. Teaching and learning methods

Task-based teaching method;Situational teaching method; Communicative teaching method; Cooperation learning method; Independent learning method.

4. Teaching procedures

Step 1: Lead in

Teacher will show some pictures and let students to guess the verbs:

swim, eat dinner, do homework, watch TV and play basketball. Step 2: Presentation

1) Read and answer. Students will read the passage and try to answer the questions--Q1: Which activities are mentioned in the article? Q2: What are they doing? And fill in the blanks.

2) Conclude the grammar. Guide students to know the structure and function of the present continuous tense: be+doing Step 3: Practice 1) Read the passage.

2)Work in pair. Use the present continuous tense to make new sentences.

Step 4: Production

Write a passage by using the new grammar structure. Some students will be invited to show their reports to the whole class. Step 5: Summary and homework

1) Some students will be guided to summarize what they have learned in this class.

2) Finish the exercise on text book.
