28 A Telephone Call
One Sunday morning, Mrs. Green is
waiting for an important telephone call, but she remembers she has no
bread in the house, so she leaves her baby Kate at home and says to her five-year-old son, Jim, “I am going to the supermarket, Jim, and I will come back in a few minutes.”
But when she’s out, the telephone rings and Jim answers.
“Hello!” says a man “Is your mother there?”
“No,” answers
Jim.

29 Unity Is Strength
One day, a little lamb is drinking water from the river near his house. A wolf sees him and wants
to eat him. So the wolf comes to the lamb and shouts:
“How dare you drink from my river? I’m going to eat you tonight!”
The lamb is very
afraid and begins to cry.
“Why are you crying?” ask the lamb’s friends.
“The wolf is going to eat me
tonight,” says the lamb.
