Yao Xinmin, 64, has been a security guard (保安) at Central South University of Forestry and Technology in Changsha, Hunan since 2007. He provides far more than a wake-up call.

Soon, Yao noticed some students have difficulty getting up early. So he helped a student by telling him to send a photo after he got to the classroom. And it did work.

Slowly, more students began to ask for Yao’s help. Every time Yao received photos, he would send the students some words to encourage them. “I have to copy good sentences from books, TV programs and the Internet,” he said. “I want them to work hard. “

In 2010, Yao began to collect students’ information after the Spring Festival holiday and help them find available seats in the classrooms for self-study.

“I am happy to see many students keep studying through their daily photo report,” he said. So far, more than 10,000 students have got Yao’s help. They were thankful, and they shared their happiness with Yao when getting admission letters (录取通知书).

As I grew bigger, I became handsome. My coat was bright and black. I had one white foot and a pretty white star on my forehead. When I was four years old, Squire Gordon decided to buy me, so Farmer Grey began to break me in.

“Breaking in” means to teach a horse to wear a saddle and bridle saddle and bridle and to carry a person on his back. He mustn’t speak to other horses, or bite, or kick, and he must always do what his master says.

I hated wearing a bit (马嚼子) in my mouth. It was like a metal finger between my teeth. The saddle was not so bad. One morning: my master rode me round the meadow. I was proud to carry him, and I soon got used to it. ...

Early in May a man took me to Squire Gordon’s home. My new stable (马厩) was large and comfortable. There was a fat grey little horse next to me.

“How do you do? What is your name?” I said.

He said he was Merrylegs and he hoped I was good-tempered and that he didn’t like horses that bite. He looked over at a tall chestnut horse. In the afternoon, when she went out, Merrylegs told me about her.

“That’s Ginger,” he said. “She bites. One day she bit James, the groom (马倌). She says no one was kind to her before. But James and John Manly, our grooms, are very good to us, and Squire Gordon doesn’t whip (鞭打) his horses, so I think she’s going to like it here.”

The next morning John took me for a ride and we met the Squire and Mrs Gordon on the way. Mrs Gordon named me Black Beauty.

Sophie, a 14-year-old British girl, suddenly changed a lot in class. She lost interest in studies and would sit in the corner with her head mostly down.

Ethan Miller, one of Sophie's teachers, found out the reason∶ she was bullied (欺凌) online. Sophie got abusive (辱骂的) messages on her phone and on Facebook. Sophie was not alone. One in three young people, in 30 countries, say they have had online bullying. Twenty percent of those bullied students were not willing to go to school because of it, according to a report in September. Seventy-five percent of them said social media (社交媒体) , like Facebook and Twitter, are the main places for online bullying.

The Internet world makes it easier for people to communicate with each other, but there is more danger for young people as well—and it is surprising that online bullying troubles many young people more than anything else. What's more, online bullying could lead to serious results for young people. Such bullying makes young people easily hurt themselves or even kill themselves, according to a 2018study. The study also found that young people facing online bullying were not willing to ask for help as those bullied by traditional (传统的) ways.

To help with the problem, UNICEF has taken action to support people who are bullied, such as training (培训) for teachers and parents to prevent and deal with online bullying.
