PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent travelling and durability by forming an undercoating layer mainly comprising non-magnetic fine particles having mean particle size and a bonding agent
between a non- magnetic supporter and a ferromagnetic metallic thin-film. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer composed of a ferromagnetic metallic thin-film 5 is formed onto a non-magnetic supporter 2. An undercoating layer using non- magnetic fine particles 4 having mean particle size of 100-350Angstrom as main bodies is shaped between the supporter 2 and the metallic thin-film 5. A polyester resin having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 40 deg.C or lower is used as the bonding agent 3, and the film thickness of the undercoating layer is sea in 30-250Angstrom .
