Brief introduction to Xixi National Wetland Park
Located in the west of Hangzhou City, Xixi National Wetland Park is only 6 km to the Wulin Gate in the key central area of Hangzhou and only 5 km to West Lake. The Xixi area started in Han and Jin dynasties, developed in Tang and Song dynasties, prospered in Ming and Qing dynasties, declined in the period of Republic of China and re-prospered in modern times. Along with West Lake and Xiling Seal Society, Xixi is well-known as one of the “three Xi”. In the past Xixi covered an area of 60 square kms.

Now the total area of Xixi wetland is about 11.5 square kms that developed in successively three stages.
Xixi is a rare wetland in China that integrates urban wetland, cultivating wetland and cultural wetland into a whole. Also it is the first national wetland park in the country.
The scenic spots of the area have been designated as
Snow- like Reeds Dancing in autumn, Dragon Boat Festival,
Searching for Plum Blossom along Winding Waters,
Persimmons Mirroring in the Water, Egrets Flying over the Lotus Shallow, Reeds in the Moonlight,
Listening to Chinese Opera in Hezhu Fishing Village in Misty Rain, Imperial Mark of Gaozhuang Lingering Charm of Hongyuan,
as well as three causeways---

Causeway 1. Snow- like Reeds Dancing in Autumn
In the inner part of xixi reeds, surrounded by crisscrossed water. Reed catkins which look kike white and light flowers sway with the wind, flying like snow in the sky. During clear and refreshing autumn days, visitors can integrate into the world of reeds by boat, or they may stand in a high place and overlook the endless reed catkins.
Qiuxue temple in the area was first known as Dasheng temple and originally built in Song Dynasty, Chenjiru got it’s name of “Qiuxue Temple”(Qiuxue means the white flower from the reeds) from poem which described the beautiful scenery around the temple.
