Step 1. Revision and warming-up ;
1. Read the words in unit 9 for one time. Let the students read after the teacher if necessary. 2. Talk about activities on weekends:
I usually play badminton in the school gym on weekends . How about you ? What do you usually do on weekends ?
Let several students answer this question. Step 2: Presentation
1.Ask the students as below: Can you play badminton with me this weekend? The students may answer like this: Yes, I can./Sure./Sounds great….. No, I can’t./Sorry, I can’t…… 2.Explain how to make, accept, decline invitations politely . Step 3: Complete 1a-1b.
1. Let the students look at the phrases in 1a and read them for two times.Then translate them into Chinese.
2. Let the students complete 1a on their own and then check the answers. Answers: 1.a 2.e 3. d 4. b 5. c
3. Listening practice. Let the students look at 1b and make sure they know what to do .Then play the recording for two times and the students complete 1b on their own. 4. Check the answer: a. Tim b. Anna c. Kay d. Wilson e. Ted Step 4: Groupwork
1. First get four students role-play the conversation in 1c for one time. Then let them work in groups of four and make new conversations.
2. Let sever groups of the students role-play their own conversations in front of the whole class. The teacher correct if necessary. Step 5: Summary and exercises
1. Make a brief summary of this lesson and let the students take notes . 2. Complete some exercises together . Step 6: Homework
1. Preview 2a-2d after class.
