There was a valley called Sleepy Hollow. The villagers were close-minded and believed in all kinds of strange legends. But the story that people believed most was about a man who was headless, rode a horse at night, looking for his lost head. Ichabod Crane was a poor teacher of a small school in the village, Tarry Town. He earned extra money teaching young people to sing. And he fell in love with one of his students Katrina, the only daughter of a rich Dutch farmer. He was not only dazzled by her beauty, but by her family's possessions. However there was also another young man named Brom loved Katrina. One day Ichabod was invited to a party at Katrina’s house as well as Brom. Young people sat together to tell stories about the Sleepy Hollow. One of the stories was about the rider looking for his lost head. On the way of going home, Ichabod came across a headless rider on a horse. Ichabod tried to escape with all his power, but the headless horseman followed him closely and threw his head to Ichabod. Then Ichabod was knocked down from his horse. Next day, people only found Ichabod’s hat and a shattered pumpkin, so they believed that Ichabod was died. A few years later, an old farmer said Ichabod was alive. As for Katrina, she married Brom. Whenever the story of Ichabod was talked, Brom always burst into laugh.
