A wild animal is an animal that isn’t tame and lives on its own, without any help from people. A wild animal finds food, water, home, and everything else by itself. A wild animal can live in a field, in the woods, by a river, in a park or in your yard.
In spring and early summer you might find young animals in the wild. They are often cute, helpless, and friendly. It seems that these young animals are all by themselves, but their parents are usually nearby. Grown-up wild animals hide babies for a short time while they are looking for food. This can happen anywhere, even in your backyard. The baby rabbit or the young bird you find in your yard has a mother somewhere nearby.
If you see or find a baby animal, it is best to leave the place quietly. The grown-up animal will return as soon as possible. If you know that the baby animal’s parents have died, leave it there and tell an adult. They can call professional workers to find out what to do. Remember: wild animals are our friends! ( )1. Dear Mom and Dad,
I’ve been here for weeks and now I’m doing well in the class. Thank you for telling me to send a card to Mr. Lin for Teacher’s Day next month. I’ll do it.
My friend and I spent a weekend in the home of an American family. Mr. Hanks met us at the bus station and took us to his farm in his truck. There we met his wife and two daughters, Martha and Jenny. His son Sean was staying with friends. Mr. Hanks is busy growing apples and vegetables. He has about 100 cows; however, he doesn’t milk the cows himself. A milking machine does that. Mr. Hanks also has a computer to help him. It tells him many things, like the best time to grow things or to sell them. But there is one thing the computer doesn’t do: tell him that it’s time for dinner. We had great fun on the farm. And we have learned a lot about life in America. Your daughter, Sue
