It was then that I realized that Ferrari cars could be bought with money, but a blue sky couldn’t.

In the history of photography, the first use of camera was for photographing people and their families. But because of its cost and difficulty, photographers have to get things right at the first time and put as many people as possible into the picture. Here I have my four DOs for family photos.

Do make your groups closer. Even though they are family, most likely, they won’t be getting close enough. It has always been a problem for me to have everyone close. But it can truly give a feeling of family. As a starter, try having people stand with shoulders partly covering the one besides him or her.

Do make people’s clothes match. Remind the family to possibly share similar colors. No extreme colors and strange prints on their clothing. Though it’s their picture and their choice, a casual suggestion from a professional is usually appreciated.

Do check the screen for blinking (眨眼). You can get away with a weak smile, but if someone looks sleepy in their family photo, the customer may not be happy. I suggest you quickly check across everyone’s eyes on the screen after photographing.

Do try to be funny to get natural smiles. Funny jokes work surprisingly well to break the nervousness. A good photographer’s joke might be asking everyone to hold their best pose (姿势). You can also get them doing something they don’ 64. What can we know from the first paragraph? A. Photography has a very long history.
