Communication and culture
Since the beginning of 21st century, high and information technologies have shown their magic power in shrinking the world. People can not live without Communication. Communication is everywhere. People on the earth, no matter where they live, what languages they speak and what their skin colors are, are now having more and more opportunities to communicate with each other, do business, make friends and solve problems.
The communication process involves the following interrelated elements: the context of the communication, the participants, the messages being communicated, the channels through which the communication occurs, the presence or absence of “noise,” and the verbal and nonverbal responses known as feedback.
However, there are many differences between their languages, cultures and customs. One of the biggest differences between different countries lie in the cultural differences in the importance of context in communication. Cultrue and language are interwined and shape each other. It is impossible to separate the two.
Human communication—that is, the ability to use language, the ability to exchange ideas with people around us in different cultures. Like communication, culture is prevalence and has a profound effect on
humans. Culture exist everywhere around us between different nations even different countries. Most of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are
profoundly
affected
by
different
cultures.
Successfully
communicatting with someone from a different culture or different countries which is very difficult to our human requires a degree of communication competence. Most models of communication competence include a affective, and behavioral component, which is indispensable in Intercultural communication. In the culture, the language is literally everywhere.
There are four levels we should achieved after we learn Intercultural Communication course, for example, International communication, Interracial communication, Inter-ethnic communication and Inter-regional communication. Meanwhile, we can have the accomplishment of familiaring with ourselves and others ethnic culture, understanding the differences between different cultures and respecting each other in the communication.
