Scope and application This procedure identify and evaluate environmental aspects and impacts arising from process and support functions in ShenZhen Factory.
Introduction
According to ISO 14001 standards, Philips LCD requires to establish a procedure to identify environmental aspects and impacts which are classified as significant. An effective and
relevant environmental management system depends on the significant impacts identified. All resultant objectives and targets and related programs improving overall environmental performance will be based on the environmental aspects and impacts.
Definitions and Abbreviations Environmental aspect
Environmental impacts
Element of an organization’s activities, products or services that can interact with the environment.
Any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly or partially resulting from an organization’s activities, products or services.
Any impact results directly from activities at site level and includes air, water, and waste pollution which may arise from normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.
Any impact results from pollution arising from product use/ disposal, performance of major suppliers or sourcing of raw materials. For
organizations where manufacturing generates low levels of pollution and low risk the majority of significant impacts may result from such indirect impacts.
