Part 1 Analysis of the teaching material
The topic comes from unit 1 of Module 9 in Book A, Grade 7. It mainly talks about the school trip Betty and her friends are enjoying on the Great Wall now. From this topic, students should master the grammar of present continuous tense.
The type of this unit is listening and speaking. So I will have the students do some exercises to improve their listening and speaking ability 教学目标: 知识目标:
1.掌握重点单词:call, postcard, enjoy, walk, lie in the sun, take photos, on sale, etc;
2. 掌握重点句型: I’m standing on … and … We’re enjoying … a lot. 能力目标:
1. 能听懂人们正在做某事的对话。
2. 能用现在进行时谈论人们正在做的事情。 情感目标:
通过学习这节跟长城有关的课,增强学生的爱国之情和自豪感。 教学重点: 1.能掌握本单元的重点词句。 2.能理解现在进行时并运用。 教学难点:
掌握现在进行时的结构,并能够谈论人们正在做的事情。 Part 2 Teaching and learning methods
Teaching methods are Communicative and PWP approach
Learning methods are activity-based learning, individual work, pair work and group work.

Step1Warm up and lead in 1.Learning new words
Present the new words and phrases on screen.
Read after me Read by themselves Read one by one
2.Free talk: show some pictures about what people usually do and what people are doing now.
Ask students to work in pairs and get familiar to the structure: be doing something. At the same time, lead in the new words.
Purpose: Free talk to attract the Ss’ attention and help them get familiar with the
grammar structure be doing something, Observe and sum up the structure of present continuous tens
Step2 While - listening

1. Talk about the following pictures in pairs
Purpose: listen to improve the students’ listening ability and let students get familiar with the words of the topic
2. Listen and number the pictures Purpose: Listen and get the main ideal. 3. Listen and choose
Purpose: By this step the students can get the main idea of the dialogue and practice the present continuous tense. Step 3 Post – reading
1.Read the passage together 2. Read the passage in groups 3.Read the passage in pairs
Purpose: By this step, the students can have a chance to practise their reading abilities
Step 5 Group work
Purpose: To consolidate the present continuous tense and develop the students’ sense of competition.
Step 6 Summary and Homework Summary
1. Words and phrases
2. Present continuous tense
Purpose: Let Ss’ have a general idea of what they have learned in this class. Homework
1. Review words and phrases.
2. Read the passage with partners after class.
Purpose: By doing the homework, the Ss can master the knowledge aims better and they can use what they have learned in daily life.
