Good afternoon everyone,
It is my great honor to be here to share my teaching ideas with you! The content I chose is the reading part of Unit 3 Book 4. A taste of English Humor. Now let me introduce it in detail. This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important role in English teaching .This period includes Warming Up, Pre-reading, Reading and Comprehending..
The knowledge goal is to enable Ss to catch the main idea by fast reading. Then to find out the detailed information through careful reading. By the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of the meaning of the text.
The ability goal is to develop Ss basic skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Of course, the centre of this lesson is to practice reading, including predicting, skimming, scanning and digesting. Meanwhile I will encourage Ss to practice, participate and cooperate in the classroom activities.
The emotional goal is to learn the optimism , kindness and determination of Charlie.
The teaching important point is to help the students learn how to understand and enjoy English humors and develop Ss basic skills.
Teaching difficult point is to help the students know the differences between English and Chinese in humours.

As for the teaching method, I will adopt communication method, task-based method and cooperation study method. With the help of the computer, I believe the English results will be improved greatly in my class.
The teaching steps are as follows: Step 1 Lead in
1. Greet the whole class as usual.
2. I will show Ss some pictures of Charlie Chaplin and play a short video about Charlie eating his shoe. (My purpose here is to stimulate students ' interest in learning.)
Step2. Pre-reading 1. Reading and finding.
Tell students to read the jokes on page17 and find their punchlines.(pair work) 2.Filling in the chart
Ask students to name the kinds of humour they have known by asking some questions.(Class Work)
3. Let students discuss the following questions Step 3 Fast reading
In this step, I will ask Ss to read the text as quickly as possible to catch the main idea of the passage and get a brief impression of Charlie. By doing so, I will train Ss skimming skills. And then, let Ss complete the notes about Charlie Chaplin using the information in the passage.
