People tend to get angry when hungry, which is due to lower blood sugar caused by lack of nutrients. A solution is put forward that healthy snacks should be carried.
From my point of view, eating snacks with nutritious choices that feed people’s bodies the nutrients is a must. On one hand, as we know, three meals a day is best. But after understanding the body better, we find a drop in blood sugar can be triggered by going for long stretches between meals. That drop not only causes overeating at meal time , but also transforms a person easily into a cranky monster. On the other hand, some snacks are high in fat or sugar. Obesity as well as various diseases can result from taking too much fat .Only by eating low-calorie snacks with rich nutrients can those who want to keep fit and take control of their weight benefit.

M: May I visit Mrs. Brown tomorrow?
W: Let me see. It’s Tuesday today. Sorry, you can’t. How about the day after tomorrow? M: That’s OK. (Text 2)
W: What do you do after class?
M: Well, I have classes until 11:30. After that I usually go to the sports center and work out for at least an hour.
W: Really? What kind of exercise do you do?
M: Well, three days a week I swim. The other days I lift weights.

M: What color should we paint the walls? Does blue look good in here? W: It makes no difference to me. (Text 4)
W: I’m opening a restaurant next year.
M: And who is going to provide the money for it? W: My parents might, but I’m not sure.
M: It’s not easy to run a restaurant. Many close within the first year. (Text 5)
M: Sharon, did you edit those files I sent you yesterday yet?
W: Yes, Andy. I e-mailed them to you 20 minutes ago. Didn’t you receive them? M: I didn’t check my e-mail. I’m sure they’re fine. Thanks for helping me out with them. (Text 6)
M: Good afternoon, ma’am. Can I help you? W: Yes, I’d like to buy this dress, please.
M: You have very good taste. It’s certainly a pretty dress. The standard price is $200. You can get a 20% discount now.
W: That sounds reasonable.
M: It surely does. Will you be paying by cash, cheque, or credit card? W: The last one.
M: OK. Here you go, and here’s your receipt. Have a nice day. W: Thanks. You have a good one, too. (Text 7)
M: Excuse me, Miss. Is there a barbershop near here?
W: Yes, sir. It’s on Bl, near the gift shop. You can take any lift down there from here. They’re open now until six o’clock.
M: Thank you. By the way, you’ve done a very good job cleaning the room and making the beds. My wife and I left you a small tip. We appreciate your hard work very much. W: You’re welcome, sir. It’s our pleasure to serve our guests. (Text 8)
M: I’m really sorry, Professor Irwin. I was sick yesterday.
W: Look, I’m not upset that you couldn’t keep the appointment, but it’s polite to call. You know that. M: Yes, I do.
W: During registration I have to see all my students, and sometimes they have to wait several days to get in. When someone doesn’t show and doesn’t call, that wastes an appointment time.
M: You’re right. I apologize. I don’t feel well, and I guess I just wasn’t thinking straight at the time. W: OK. Apology accepted. Now, I suppose you need to set up another appointment. M: Yes, I do. Can I see you now if I wait?
W: No. I can see you at 3 o’clock this afternoon, or during my office hour on Tuesday or Thursday. M: Great. Your office hour is best. That’s 2 o’clock, right? W: That’s right. Which day do you prefer? M: Tuesday.
W: OK. Be there this time. M: I will. Thanks a lot. (Text 9)
M: Hi, Kate. Peter says you’re looking for someone to share your flat with. W: That’s right. I am actually.
M: Well, I’m going to come to university here and it’s too far for me to travel to my parents’ house every day. So could I share your flat? W: Why not?
M: Oh, that’s great. Does anyone else live there or will it be just the two of us? W: There’s one other person who is studying biology.
M: Great. It’ll be really good to live with people of my own age. I want to find a place where I can have parties and my friends can come and stay. My parents don’t like me making any noise, but you won’t mind, will you?
W: What kind of noise? Music is fine.
M: Good, because I play in a band — I play the guitar. And I also play the violin, but not in the band. W: Oh, well, I do need to study.
M: Oh, don’t worry. I won’t play it loudly. W: That’s good.
M: I saw a flat which is very near the university. But it was so tidy that I decided I couldn’t live there. I don’t expect you’re tidy either, are you?
W: Well, I do prefer to keep the flat tidy. Maybe you should look for another flat. (Text 10)
W: Good morning everyone. I’m here today to tell about the university’s advisory service. I know that you’ve just arrived for a few days and you’re probably not thinking about the kind of problems you may face while studying for your degree. But it’s important to remember that you will go through ups and downs throughout your time here. Fortunately, you don’t have to go through all those alone. At the advisory office, we have several trained advisors who can help you with a variety of problems. The office is open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If you need to talk to someone about study-related problems, you can make an appointment with Rodney Reid. If you’re looking for a part-time job or a casual job, Jarrod Howard may help you. He can also help you with information about jobs relating to your courses and the graduate programs run by the Government and large companies. If you want to discuss money matters, such as budgeting, you can turn to Jim Smith. If you have a problem that doesn’t fit into one of the areas already mentioned, or a personal problem, such as stress management, you can talk to Laura Lea. Check the noticeboards or the advisory office for more information. Now, let’s move on to the university helpline ...
