Translate the following passage into English.
Table tennis can be considered as a young sport, for it has only a history of 100 years. In 1890, a few British navy officers who stationed in India accidentally found playing tennis in a small table quite stimulating. Later they switched the solid ball to an elastic hollow ball and beat with wooden board instead of tennis racket. That is the reason why this new style tennis sport on the table was called “table tennis”. Table tennis was originally played with balls made of either cork or rubber and with rackets made of cardboard. Today, the balls are made of celluloid and the rackets are generally made of wood with the finest rubbers and glues. Without bothering into the science behind it all, the players can master the sport just by spinning the ball in the right angle. Since the 1988 Olympic debut, China has dominated the sport of table tennis.
