Reduction of the noise normally generated by fluid flow through such a valve, is achieved by locating an apertured member 20
between the inlet and outlet, this member having a plurality of apertures 26 at least one dimension of which is in the range from 1/32 to “ inch. As shown, the
member 20 consists of a sleeve in which the valve member 22 is slidable. The apertures 26 may be formed by a ring of longitudinal slots in the sleeve, or by rings of circular holes. The noise attenuation over the range is illustrated graphically and is particularly effective with gases. 主权项：
