Today, a man talked very loud on his phone on a train between Malvern and Reading, making many passengers upset. I wonder how he would react if I were to read my newspaper out loud on the train, I have never had the courage to do it, though.

Why not give it a try? Perhaps you should take lessons on a

musical instrument(乐器). The late musician DennisBrian is said to have asked a fellow train passenger to turn off his radio. When his

request(请求) was refused, he took out his French horn(号) and started to practice.

Angie O’Edema ·42 minutes ago

I don’t see how musical instruments can help improve manners in public. Don’t do to others what you wouldn’t like to be done to yourself. Once, a passenger next to me talked out loud on his mobile phone. I left my seat quietly, giving him some privacy(隐私) to finish his conversation. He realized this and apologized to me. When his phone rang again later, he left his seat to answer it. You see, a bit of respect and cooperation can do the job better.

Minutes after the last movie ended yesterday at the Plaza Theater, employees were busy sweeping up popcorns(爆米花) and gathering coke cups. It was a scene(场景 )that had been repeated many times in the theater’s 75-year history. This time, however, the cleanup was a little different. As one group of workers carried out the rubbish, another group began removing seats and other theater equipment in preparation for the building’s end.

The film classic The Last Picture Show was the last movie shown in the old theater. Though the movie is 30 years old, most of the 250 seats were filled with teary-eyed(眼泪汪汪) audience wanting to say good-be to the old building. Theater owner Ed Bradford said he chose the movie because it seemed suitable. The movie is set in a small town where the only movie theater is preparing to close down. Bradford said that large modern theaters in the city made it impossible for the Plaza to compete. He added that the theater’s location was also a reason. “This used to be the center of town, ” he said. “Now the area is mostly office buildings and warehouses(仓库). ”

Last week some city officials suggested the city might be interested in turning the old theater into a museum and public meeting place. However, these plans were abandoned because of financial(经济的) problems. Bradford sold the building and land to a local development company , which plans to build a shopping centre on the land where the theater is located.

The theater audience said good-by as Bradford locked the doors for the last time. After 75 years the Plaza Theater has shown its last movie. The theater will be missed. 26. In what way was yesterday’s cleanup at the Plaza special? A. It made room for new equipment. B. It means the closedown of the theater. C. It was done with the help of the audience. D. It marked the 75th anniversary of the theater. 27. Why was The Last Picture Show put on?

A. It was an all-time classic. B. It was about the history of the town. C. The audience requested it. D. The theater owner found it suitable. 28. Why is the old theatre unpopular besides the pressure from competition? A. The audience don’t like it B. A local development company wants it

C. It is a scene repeated many times D. It isn’t located in a good place 29. What will probably happen to the building?
