Winter is dangerous for drivers because it’s so difficult to know what is going to happen and accidents take place easily. Bad weather can be waiting to meet you. Ice might be hiding under the snow, waiting to send you off the road. The car coming towards you might suddenly move across the road. Here are two rules for driving safely on icy roads:
Rule Number One is to drive smoothly. Irregular movements can make a car very difficult to manage. The idea of using radio or wireless to broadcast to audiences(听众)was formed in 1916 by a president of the American Marconi Company, David Sarnoff. His superiors(上级)were doubtful about his idea to “make radio a household cause, but by buying a ‘radio music box’, the audience could enjoy lectures, music performance, etc.”
Four years later the American engineer Frank Conrad, a worker at W E Corp, drew lots of attention when a local newspaper reported on the growing audience listening on radio sets to his evening and weekend broadcasts.
