第五部分:写作(共一节,满分20分)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm writing to you to share my opinions and suggestions about the problem of air pollution in our city.

With the development of economy, more and more families begin to have cars of their own, which results in serious air pollution. When winter comes, the whole city center is covered by heavy smog and the terrible smell from industrial waste gas.

In order to protect the land we are living on, I firmly hold the view that some effective

measures must be taken. First, I think it necessary to call on all the citizens to use public transports and electric cars. Second, by setting up laws and increasing enforcement, there will be less air

pollution. Garbage sorting and proper disposal should also be written into local regulations. Finally, it might be helpful to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection, which will benefit us in the long run.

Hopefully, this letter will draw your attention to the problem and offer you some helpful advice. Best wishes!

Li Hua

附:听力录音材料: Text 1:

W: David, we all know you took up skateboarding at ten. But did your parents support you? M: Yeah, my parents even let me skate in the house. W: Did they?

M: Yeah, they were pretty cool. W: How about your school work?

M: That was fine. I was able to get my school work done with good grades. My only problem was that I had so much physical energy that I could not sit still in class. Then some teachers started taking my skateboard away.

W: That couldn’t stop you from skating?

M: No way. The cool thing was that my parents managed to find me a different school. The headmaster there was wonderful. He let us plan our own P.E classes. So guess what class I created. W: Skateboarding.

M: You got it. That was my P.E. class. By that time I was turning professional and starting to show off some techniques at competitions.

W: Is that when your new style became famous?

M: Yeah. Other skaters had this smooth flowing style, but I was kind of like a robot always coming up with new tricks.

Question 1: What was David’s schoolwork like?

Question 2: Why did David say the new headmaster was wonderful?

Text 2:

M: Hi, Wendy.

W: Oh, Johnny. How are you doing? Busy?

M: No, not at all. I’ve been a couch potato lately, killing time by watching TV. Oh, by the way, did you hear the news? W: No, what is it?

M: They are going to turn the city square into an amusement park. W: Wonderful! I am glad that big and ugly thing will be gone.

M: You really are? In my opinion, the square is 100 times better than any amusement park. W: I don’t see why.

M: The square is a symbol of our city and is a nice place to have a walk for everybody.

W: well, I don’t know that huge and boring thing can be our symbol. But I know for sure the city has tens of parks where you can take a nice walk.

M: I know what you mean. But don’t you think that we will no longer have peace and quiet once the amusement park opens?

W: Does that matter? To me, more importantly, the amusement park means employment. M: So what?

W: Income. If you have income, you have money to spend and in turn it will create more jobs.

Question 3: How does the man kill time?

Question 4: What do the man and woman disagree on?

Text 3:

W: Hello, how can I help you?

M: Um, hello. Is it possible to book a bus tour of the city here?

W: Of course, sir. When would you like to take the tour? There are tours in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

M: We’d prefer to go this afternoon. Oh, and it’s for two people.

W: Right. Now I just need some details. Can you give me your names, please? M: Yes, Susan Field and James Carter.

W: Could you spell your surname for me, please? M: It’s Carter. C-A-R-T-E-R.

W: Thanks. And can I have your telephone number? M: Well, it’s 629-5992.

W: Ok. Can you also tell me which hotel you’re staying at? M: It’s the Sunshine Hotel.

W: Ok. Now, I can book you on the tour at 4 p.m. Would that suit you? Alternatively, there is one at two.

M: Two would be better for us, please.

W: Right, that’s booked for you, sir. Two people at 2 p.m. today, August 14th. You pay the bus driver when you get on, and it’s $4 per person.

M: By the way, we’d like to buy some souvenirs before coming back. W: Then you’d better get off at downtown.
