Young people in their twenties and thirties are in worse health than their parents, a British survey has found.
According to the research, those aged between 18 and 34 are three times more likely to have a cold or flu than the older generation. Nearly a quarter of the young regularly have headaches or migraines (偏头痛), compared to just 14 percent of over-55s. And they are almost twice as likely to have high stress levels.
The elderly also tend to eat more healthily. More than four in ten eat five or more portions of fruit or vegetables a day, doubling the number of young men and women. And when it comes to alcohol, 20 percent of the over-55s don't indulge (沉湎;放纵), while just 10 percent of those aged 18-34 don't indulge. Six in ten of the elderly make fresh meals every day, compared to less than a third of the young. And while three-quarters of over-55s say they eat a balanced diet, just half of the younger generation does so. Less than a third of them regularly cook with fresh ingredients (原料), compared to almost two-thirds of the older people.
The older generation is also more likely to take a healthy amount of exercise, with 12 percent spending at least 30 minutes doing so each day. They may appear fitter, but only nine percent of the young do that. Over-55s also try hardest to have at least six hours' sleep and plenty of fresh air, according to research done in the UK for fruit brand Florida Grapefruit.
Long working hours, high stress levels and lack of exercise lead to people getting run-down and ill.

由后文的“of making ...and cooking ...”
request sb.to do sth.“要求某人做某事”为固定用法。
7.behavio(u)r 考查词性转换。

[标准范文] Dear_Editor,
I'm_writing_to_you_about_a_common_phenomenon_to_draw_it_to_the_public_attention.
As is often the case, when people are having meals, waiting for buses or even walking along streets, they are always addicted to their phones, heads hanging down, completely ignoring others.
The reason for the increasing number of phubbings everywhere is that smartphones nowadays can be used for people to do nearly everything, such as playing mobile games, shopping online and keeping in touch with friends through QQ and WeChat. However, too much exposure to phones is harmful to their health and safety. Moreover, people engaged in phones fail to communicate well with those around them.
Personally, people should wisely use their phones to help with their work and study. Meanwhile they'd better care more about their family and friends rather than phones.
