The organization Fair-Test opposes the requirements. It lists more than seven hundred individual schools where testing is now

Testing critics say one reason to drop the requirement is that preparing for the tests takes too much time away from schoolwork and life. Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts ended its requirement in 2001. Like Bates, Mount Holyoke has compared student performance.
