1. Group work: Try to find as many words as possible to describe an earthquake. (exercise 2 on page 28)
2. Ask individual students to present their findings.

Use the important new words and expressions to describe the pictures about earthquakes
Houses were destroyed and lay in ruins.
A large number of people were killed or injured.
The road cracked, and steam burst from the ground. The railway tracks became useless.
People were sad, shocked and frightened. It seemed as if the world was at an end.
Rescue workers from all nation hurried to the disaster area right away.
They dug out the trapped people and buried the dead. They built shelters for the survivors.
