【摘要】Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles, is a perfect tragedy according to Aristotle. Even though Oedipus was pride and bad-tempered, I still admire him for he is a man of truth. And the fate of Oedipus is not the key that leads his downfall but his pride. Oscar Wilde and his famous long novel The Picture of Dorian Gray is mentioned next. Wilde stresses the autonomy of art, and holds up the banner of individualism in literary writing.
