Describe the steps of decorating a Christmas tree.
Ⅰ. Teaching procedures
Step 1. Warming up:
1) First, let’s listen to a piece of music.
2) Look at the screen, there are three questions. Please talk about these questions in groups, and then I’ll choose one student in your group to answer these questions.
Questions: Ⅰ What do you often do before and during Spring Festival?
Ⅰ What do we often say to others?
Ⅰ Do you love Spring Festival? Why?
Step 2. Presentation
You know, class, Spring Festival is the most important festival in China, but here are some other questions. I don’t know if you know these questions.

Questions: Ⅰ Which Festival is the most important in western countries?
----- Christmas Day.
Ⅰ When is the Christmas Day?
----- On December 25th.
Ⅰ What do people say to each other during Christmas?
----- Merry Christmas.
Ⅰ What do people usually do before Christmas?
----- Presents and Christmas tree.
Ⅰ Where do they put the presents?
----- Stocking.
Ⅰ Who usually puts the presents in the stocking for children?
----- Father Christmas.
Step 3. New words
1) After these questions, let’s come to Lesson 29. You know, class, Christmas tree is necessary at Christmas. This class, we will learn how to decorate a Christmas tree. (Introduce the content of this lesson.)
decorate: make something more beautiful by adding beautiful things
put up: hang up; hold up
circle: move in a circle round something
angel: messenger of God
2) Read after me.
3) Read the new words and phrases together.
Step 4. Listen to the tape
Now listen to the dialogue carefully.
1) While playing the recording, let the students listen carefully.
2) Listen to the tape again, and try your best to answer the question.

Step 5. Read and answer
1) Open your books, and turn to Page 36. Listen and repeat.
2) Read the dialogue in pairs. Try to understand the dialogue. Pay attention to the steps of decorating a Christmas tree.
3) Ask the students if they have any problems, and let them solve the problems themselves if possible.
4) In pairs, talk about the questions in Part 2; Student Book, on Page 36, then answer and check together.
