The 92-year-old, thin, calm and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, even though she is nearly blind, moved to a nursing home today.
Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the hall of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when I told her that her room was ready.
As she walked slowly to the elevator, I provided a true description of her tiny room, including the old sheets(布帘) that had been hung on her window. “I love it,” she said with the happiness of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
“Mrs. Jones, you haven’t seen the room…just wait.”
“That doesn’t matter,” she replied. “Happiness is something you decide ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture(家具) is arranged. It’s how I arranged my mind. I have already decided to love it. It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away.” She went on to explain, “Old age is like a bank account. You take what you’ve put in. So, my advice to you would be to put in a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories. Thank you for your part in filling my memory bank.” And with a smile, she said, “All my memories are happy ones.”
Mrs. Jones was always happy in the nursing home and she died at the age of 108. 21. We can infer from the passage that the author________.
A. is one of Mrs. Jones’ children B. is a relative of Mrs. Jones C. works in the nursing home D. is the owner of the nursing home 22. The room in which the old lady will live________.

A. couldn’t see what her room was like B. thought the nursing home was her home C. would have to live in the nursing home D. had already made up her mind to be happy B
These are some signs that you can see on the roads of Great Britain.
Number one is a sign with the number thirty on it. When drivers see this sign they must not go at more than thirty miles an hour. We see this sign when we get to parts of the country where there are many houses and other buildings, for example, when we are getting near a town. Thirty miles an hour is the speed limit. Number two is a sign for the end of the speed limit. We are out of the town now and may go at more than thirty miles an hour. Number three is a sign that we are near a crossroads, that is, a place where two roads cross. We must drive carefully. Number four is a sign that there is a bend in the road. Again, we must drive slowly and carefully. Number five is a sign that there is a hill and Number six is a sign that the roads get narrow. Drivers must go slowly and carefully. Number seven has the word “school” on it. This is a sign that there is a school at the side of the street or road. Perhaps there are children going to school or leaving school. So drivers must look carefully and go slowly until they are past the school building. Number eight is a sign with the letter P on it. If the driver of a car wants to leave his car and go to the shops, he looks for this sign. Then he knows that he may leave his or her car there.
24. Who will most probably read the passage?
A. People who drive badly. B. People who are learning to drive. C. People who drive well. D. People who drive carelessly. 25. When a driver sees the sign Number one, he must ____________.

Without proper planning, tourism can cause problems. For example, too many tourists can crowd public places that are also enjoyed by the inhabitants of a country. If tourists create too much traffic, the inhabitants become annoyed and unhappy. They begin to dislike tourists and to treat them impolitely. They forget how much tourism can help the country's economy. It is important to think about the people of a destination country and how tourism affects them. Tourism should help a country, keep the customs and beauty that attract tourists. Tourism should also advance the wealth and happiness of local inhabitants.
Too much tourism can be a problem. If tourism grows too quickly, people must leave other jobs to work in the tourism industry. This means that other parts of the country's economy can suffer.
On the other hand, if there is not enough tourism, people can lose jobs. Businesses can also lose money. It costs a great deal of money to build large hotels, airports, air terminals( 航空集散站), first-class roads, and other support facilities(配套设施)needed by tourist attractions. For example, a major international class tourism hotel can cost as much as 50 thousand dollars per room to build. If this room is not used most of the time, the owners of the hotel lose money.
2020
Building a hotel is just a beginning. There must be many support facilities as well, including roads to get to the hotel, electricity , sewers to handle waste, and water. All of these support facilities cost money. If they are not used because there are not enough tourists, jobs and money are lost.
28. Which of the following do you think has been discussed in the part before this selection? A. It is extremely important to develop tourism. B. Building roads and hotels is essential. C. Planning is of great importance to tourism. D. Support facilities are highly necessary
29. The underlined word \A. tourists B. passengers C. population D. citizens 30. It can he inferred from the text that_________. A. local people will benefit from tourist attraction B. the author doesn't like tourism developing so fast
