额颞叶变性是大脑局限性额叶和颞叶变性萎缩为特征的中枢神经系统退行性疾病，是一组多发生于老年前期（45-65岁）的痴呆综合征。患者常于老年前期起病，以人格改变、社会行为异常及语言表达或命名障碍为最早、最突出的症状，记忆和视空间功能损害较轻，但随病情进展（3-4年后），患者最终出现全面的痴呆及功能衰退。
