在当今世界造型艺术风格流变万千的大格局之中，墨西哥画家鲁菲诺·塔马约犹如一朵盛开的奇葩，其鲜明的艺术风格和独特的绘画语言另世人瞩目，其绘画中浓厚的地域文化精神和丰富的文化内涵独树一帜，在世界艺术领域占据着不可忽视的地位，为现代艺术的发展发挥了极大的推动作用。
塔马约是二十世纪墨西哥画坛的主要代表人物之一，其艺术成就和艺术实践过程不仅给世人提供了强烈的审美和视觉冲击，也为后起的艺术家提供了一个学习和借鉴的成功范例。
对地域文化的认知与发掘，是当代以塔马约为代表的拉美艺术家创作的主线，其地域文化之精神主要表现在对传统化、民间文化、自然环境以及社会化生活的关注与表现，可以这样认为，地域文化精神是拉美绘画异质性、绘画创作个性以及艺术成就的最根本的原因。在塔马约的绘画作品中，地域文化精神复杂二深刻的表现出来，是民族自豪感的体现，也是其艺术创作和开拓的动力。理性的研究和分析塔马约绘画的价值以及艺术创新的过程，对中国当代艺术创作，尤其是当代中国油画创作，具有强烈的参考价值。

Tamayo is one of the main representatives of the twentieth Century Mexico painting, the artistic achievements and artistic practice to the world not only provides aesthetic and strong visual impact, but also provides a reference and study successful example for budding artists.
On the cognition and excavates the region culture, is the main line to Tamayo as the representative of contemporary Latin American artists creation, the regional cultural spirit mainly in the traditional, folk culture, natural environment and social life of the attention and performance, can think so, the regional cultural spirit is the root cause of the heterogeneity of Latin American painting painting, personality and artistic achievement.
