besides ，except ，except for ，but for
这组词都有 “除了、除……之外” 之意，但实际含义相差很大。 besides :“除 之外，还有 ” ，着重于“此外还有”之 意，因为 besides 后所提及的人或事物与前面所谈及话题都符合同样 的情况。
Besides his work in physics, he spent much time working for human rights and progress.
“除了物理学方面的工作以外，他
还用了很多时间为 **** 和进步而工作。”
except :“……除外” 含义是从整体里除去一部分 . 因为可提 及的情况或道理不适合于这个部分，漪重于 “排除在外”。后面可接 各种意义的介词短语、不定式或从句来表达不同的意思，而 besides 则不能这样用。

except for :“除……之外”与 except 使用上的区别在于: except for 所指的是不同类的事物。
