I. Teaching Aims：
1. To help the students have a good understanding of the passages in this unit； 2. To help the students grasp the usages of some important words, phrases and expressions in the unit: directional prepositions, some & any, 3. To enable the students to analyze the structure
4. To introduce phonetic symbol /f/, /v/
II. Key Points and Difficult Points：
1. Get the main idea of the passage.
2. Master some useful expressions & sentence structure in the passage.
3. Understand the structure of the text.
III. Time Allotment：
Periods: 1—3
Lesson 31 (2 periods):
1st: Pre-reading activities (theme-related questions for warming up); 2nd: listening and text analysis,
While-reading activities (cultural notes; useful words and expressions; difficult sentences).
Lesson 32 (1 periods):
3rd periods: phonetic symbol /f/, /v/
usage of some & any
directional prepositions: in, on under, near, in front of, behind,
