Teaching Procedures: (第1-2 节) 教学设计 教 学 内 容 与 教 学 过 程 Step 1. Lead-in 1. 导入: 歌曲听读理解 Read the lyrics of a song. Then listen to the tape or CD and sing in chorus. 学生跟唱 1. Play the tape and let students enjoy the song. (10mins) 2. Go through the lyrics and make explanations when necessary. 3. Play the tape again and let students sing along. 2. 听力理Step 2. (Paras. 11-12) Notes to Para. 1 1. …they invited the world and his wife to see the show. ……于是便请了各 界人士来观看他们的表演。 Meaning: …they invited all the people to come and see their competition. the world and his wife is a British idiom which is normally used informally to suggest “a very large number of people”. 文章重难点 讲解 e.g. He saw clearly that all the world and his wife expected something of him, but what exactly, he could not make out. 2. It would be a shame for them to jump for nothing. 要是跳了半天一无所 获,那就太可惜了。 Meaning: It would be a pity if the winner couldn’t get any reward after the competition. In spoken English, shame is used in it’s a shame/what a shame when you wish a situation was different, and you feel sad or disappointed ([口]不应该的事情;令人惋惜的事). e.g. It is a shame to be so wasteful. He had elegant manners and nodded to all present… 他优雅地向观众点头致意…… Meaning: He behaved gracefully and nodded to all the people watching the show... 4. …for he had noble blood in him and was accustomed to mixing in human society, and that meant a good deal. ……他血统高贵,且经常出入人类社会,光这一点就不得了。 Meaning: He has an honorable family background and always spends his time living with human beings, and this proves that he was exceptionally excellent. be accustomed to: 习惯于 e.g. We were accustomed to working together. 教 The old man is accustomed to getting up early. 学 注意,to 在这个短语里是介词,和get used to中的to 相同,所以后接动内 名词。 容 mix: vi. 交往,相处,交际 与 e.g. The little boy does not mix well with his new classmates. 教 5. Moreover, he said he came of a very old family in the land of Egypt, and 学 was highly thought of over here as well. 况且,他声称其祖上是埃及的一个过 古老家族,他在本地也倍受尊崇。 程 Meaning: ... and he (the Grasshopper) was greatly respected around this place too. come of: 为……的后裔 e.g. Lisa was a teacher who came of Dorset stock. The phrase come of something means “to happen as a result of something 由……引起,起因于……”. e.g. Nothing but trouble will come of this plan. think highly of somebody/something also think a lot of somebody/something: 尊重,看得起 e.g. Your boss must think highly of you if she gives you so much responsibility.
