【篇一】

(1) play truant from school 表示“逃学”，上下文清楚时也能 够省略from school, 直接说play trua nt. trua nt 也能够单用，表示 “逃学者”。
As a boy, Tom used to play trua nt (from school). 汤姆小时候常逃学。
The three boys who are fish ing over there are trua nts and ought to be sent back to school.
那边那3个钓鱼的孩子都是逃学者，理应被送回学校。
(2) unimaginative 的反义词为imaginative(富于想像力的，爱想

(1) 这句话的主语是is前面的两个并列短语。第1个短语的主要 成分是动名词fishing，第2个短语的主要成分能够看做是eight hours(作为一个时间总量，它后面要跟动词单数形式 )。
它实际上是省略了动名词 sitti ng for(eight hours),seei ng 引 导的为分词短语，表示伴随动作。
(2) over and over aga in 为固定短语，表示“一再地”、“反复 很多次地”：
As my gran dmother cant hear very well, I had to say it over and over aga in.
因为我奶奶听力不大好，我不得不反复说好几遍。 (3) as far as .................. 在这里表示“到 .. 水准”、“就 来说”，是
连词，与距离没相关系：
As for as I know, his operati on is successful.
就我所知，他的手术是成功的。

He saved the child at the risk of his own life and put all those who looked on to shame.
