Everybody in China knows the Lunar(农历的) Chinese New Year. However, people in the English world have trouble in understanding it. Sometimes, they can’t decide : sheep or goat.
Chinese folklorists(民俗学者) say the animal symbol can be either a sheep or a goat but more likely goat. Han Chinese feed goats a lot.
The Chinese lunar calendar gives an animal symbol to each year in every 12-year circle. Yet the Chinese character for the eighth animal is “Yang”.
Huang Yang, a researcher(研究者) on the role of sheep or goats in Chinese culture, says the Chinese zodiac(生肖) first appeared after the Shang Dynasty(1600-1046 BC), when the Chinese people did not have different words for sheep and goats.
Few ordinary Chinese have trouble in understanding the sheep or goat distinction(区别).

Life is full of changes. I didn’t think the passion(激情）was important for my life until that day.
