Subject- Verb agreement
主谓一致：即谓语动词必须与主语在人称和数上应保持一致。
主谓一致三大原则：语法一致原则 意义一致原则 就近原则
一、 语法一致原则
1） 当主语是_____________，____________，_________，___________，_________或____________时，谓语用单数;主语是____________,谓语用复数. Task1: find out the subject and the verb of each sentence 1.The food is delicious.
2.Travelling to Pompii is exciting。 3.To see is to believe.
4. That we should wear masks is important. 5. 59 students make up a lovely class. 6. Everything is possible. 2) 当主语是and，both...and...连接的并列结构时，主语表复数，谓语用复数 Both my father and my sister ______ teachers.
注意： 当and连接的并列主语是同一个人或物时（and后的名词前没有冠词），谓语用单数
The singer and dancer_______ beautiful. The singer and the dancer _______cool. 3）主语是one of + 可数名词复数时， 谓语用单数 One of the students ______(come)from Longmen Town.
注意： 当one of+可数名词复数作先行词时，定语从句谓语动词用复数。但当其有the only, the very, the last 修饰时，定语从句谓语动词用单数。 One of the teachers who ______(teach) us is from JiangXi province. He is the only one of the boys who_____(be) over 180 cm.
二、 意义一致原则
1） 当主语是all/most/some/half/(a) part/the rest+ of 名词 或 分数/百分数+名词时，谓语动词取决于所接名词单复数 1.Most of them _______(have) gone home. 2.The rest of the homework ______(be) very easy.
3.Two thirds of the students in our class ______(be)still workig hard.
2）主语是时间，金钱，长度，度量等复数名词时，通常被看作一个整体，谓语用单数 1. 20 minutes ________(be) enough for me to have lunch. 2. 100 million yuan _______(be) robbed from the bank.
3)当主语是police， people， cattle 等形单意复的名词时，谓语用复数 The police _____(be) searching for the stolen car.
4)主语是形复意单的词，如：maths, physics, politics,works(工厂) 谓语用单数。 Maths_____(be) my favorite subject.
5).当主语是集体名词family， class， group, army, crowd, public, team 等时，如果强调整体，谓语用单数，如果强调集体的成员，谓语用复数。 1. Our class _____(be) a happy one.
2. .My family ______(be)watching TV together.
6) .由两部分构成的物体，如glasses, scissors, clothes, trousers, jeans等作主语时，谓语动词常用复数。 1. The glasses ________ (be)yours.
2. The pair of trousers ______(be) made of wool.
三、 就近原则 1)当两个主语由________________，_________________，_____________，___________________ ，_________________五种连词连接时，谓语取决于最靠近它的主语。 2)在There be 句型中，谓语取决于最靠近它的主语 Task2： analyze these sentences 1. You or he is wrong.
2. Either you or I am going to give a speech.
3. Neither the students nor the teacher wants to stay up late. 4. Not Lisa but three teachers come from China.
5.Not only the headteacher but also all the teachers love you. 6. There is a dog and two cats in the room.
3)主语中有with, together with, along with, except, but, like, as well as, rather than, besides, including, such as等引起的短语，适用于就远原则, 谓语取决于前面主语单复数（与短语接的名词无关） 1. Mr Green, together with his wife and children, ________（have）come to China. 2. 60 students as well as their Chinese teacher ________ (be) going to Beijing tomorrow.
