Conversations:

Bob: “Time is money” means every moment well spent may put some money into your pocket. Wendy: What do you mean by that?

Bob: You know, if you use your time wisely, you’ll do your work well, and your work will get

its price in the market.

Wendy: Then, what’s the relationship between time and money?

Bob: The proper use of time can help us enrich our experience and improve our ability to respond

to opportunities to earn money.

Wendy: But some of the students don’t realize it. Bob: Not some, but quite a few of them.

Wendy: Yeah. They don’t care about wasting time. Does it mean they’re losing money? Bob: Yes. Wasting time is a form of suicide. Time is precious. Wendy: Saving time is making money. Bob: Right. We should remember this.

Unit Eight Cherishing Time (3rd and 4th hours)

Preliminary Stage Steps:

? Ask Ss to answer: How can college students turn the challenging finals week into something

manageable? What are the ways mentioned in the passage for students to relax

mentally? Why should college students have good meals in the finals week? Why are college students advised to form a study group of their own? What do college students think of the finals week?

? Ts invite Ss to answer these questions.

? Ts give the correct answers, then tell Ss more supplementary information about how to arrangement time for the finals week, then lead Ss into the learning of Reading A.

Reading text learning

1. New words and expressions

Objective: Ss can read the new words and expressions correctly; remember these new words and

expressions.

Steps:

? Ss listen to the new words and expressions. ? Ask Ss to read the new words and expressions.

2. Reading Text A

Objective: Ss can understand the reading text, put it into good Chinese and grasp the important words,
