Stay-Healthy Tips for the Holidays

Stay healthy and fit this holiday season by staying active, having fun and avoiding those extra calories.

1.Keep the focus on fun

____36____ Christmas at your house might not be the same without such foods, but that doesn’t mean food has to be the focus. Instead, throw yourself into other things like decorating or tree-trimming(修剪树木), which can also bring fun.

2. ____37____

Do your family members’ meals conflict with yours? Here’s how to compromise. Say they wake up later than you do, and serve breakfast at 10:30. Then they skip lunch and serve Christmas “dinner” at 3 p.m. To keep your blood sugar steady without overdoing it on calories, have an early-morning snack before your relatives get up. Their late breakfast will count as your “real” breakfast, plus some of your lunch. ____38____

3.Cut down your own Christmas tree

- 8 -

Rather than buy a tree from a roadside shop where the trees have been drying out for weeks, visit a tre farm that allows you to cut your own. ____39____ You’ll burn off calories by walking around the grounds in search of the right tree, and your family will have one more pleasant holiday memory to look back on.

4.Stock the fridge with healthy meals

____40____ Thus, you don’t have much time to cook healthy meals during the holiday. Take defensive action several weeks ahead of time by cooking meals intended specifically for the fridge. You’ll be thankful later when you can put one of them into the oven or microwave and turn your attention again to writing holiday cards with personal messages.

A.Change your exercise habit B.Adjust your eating schedule

C. Most holidays are associated with certain foods.

D.It will be fresher, and probably less expensive than a tree from a shop. E.Everyone is busy during the holidays, shopping, decorating, or visiting friends and family.

F.Enjoy the 3 p.m. meal --- but don’t overdo it --- and have a small snack around 8 p.m.

G.Slow your pace by setting down your fork between bites, taking frequent drinks of water and stopping to talk with friends and family.
