1. take place 发生;举行(不用被动语态)

21. dress up

①vi. 盛装;打扮

◎n.[C] 诡计;恶作剧;窍门

trick or treat不给糖果就捣蛋(万圣节时儿童挨家索要糖果用语,扬言若不给糖就捣乱戏弄别人)

Children often wear scary clothes to knock on their neighbors' doors and shout, \

孩子们经常穿恐怖的衣服去敲邻居家的门,并叫道:“不给糖果就捣蛋 ”。 play a trick / tricks on 搞恶作剧;诈骗;开玩笑

If the neighbours do not give any sweets, the children might play a trick on them. 如果邻居什么糖也不给,那么孩子们就可以捉弄他们了。(p2)

One of the problems of old age is that your memory can start to play tricks on you. 老年人的问题之一是记忆可能紊乱起来。
