landscapearchitecture,verymuchinvolvedinsustainableandcircularsolutionstotodayschallenges.Asasubtitleweuse'IntegratedSpatialSolutionsforSustainableUrbanDeltas',whichverywelldescribesourambitionandfocus,basedonover20yearsofprofessionalexperienceintheDutchRhineRiverDelta,butalsowithabout6yearsofexperienceinChina.
YixingInfinityParkfitsverywellinthisfocus.Inshort,thisprojectdealsaboutacombinationofa
21stcentury,state-of-the-artWasteWaterTreatmentPlantwithaAgriculturalresearchcentre,connectedwithawetlandwatergardenandcombinedinaneducationalandrecreationalpark.LocationisthecityofYixing,nearShanghai,inanareabetweenanewurbandistrictandabigwetlanddevelopment.
Efficientextractionofvaluablematerialsandenergyfromthewastewaterisfollowedbyusingtheregainedfertiliser,CO2,andenergyintheagriculturalcentre.Alsothecleanedwaterisused,partlyfordrinking(!),partlyforagriculturalirrigation,partlyforaquacultureandpartlytofeedthebigwetlandafterbeingrevitalizedinthecentralwatergarden.
Therecreationalstructureiswovenintothisprocesinsuchawaythatpeoplecanexplicitlyexperienceandlearntheessenceofacirculareconomy.ThereforewenameditInfinityPark.Thisconcepthasbeenusedtodesignboththemasterplanaswellasthemoredetailedparkelements.
