本单元的话题是“英语学习”，通过这一话题强化学生对学习英语重要性的认识，吸取相关的建议和方法。
本单元“热身”（Warming Up）部分展示给学生几幅图片：英语书籍、报纸、唱英语歌曲、英语角、英语演讲比赛、利用网络学英语等，让学生了解英语学习的重要性以及学习英语的各种途径，从而渗透本单元的教学内容。

1）语言知识与语言技能的要点与要求

由 “Warming Up”中的讨论，导入课文教学。2）研讨、探究与实践
（1）布置任务，带着下列问题，限时4分钟快速阅读课文： ① Can the salesgirls in Xiushui Market speak English well?② Did the salesgirls in Xiushui Market study at university?③ What school did they graduate from?
④ Why do some students lose their confidence in learning English?⑤ How can we practice reading English?
⑥ How can we improve our listening and speaking skill?⑦ What should we do in order to write well? 让学生准确快速找到答案。（2）小组研讨探究课文中的疑难点
通过对以上问题的回答，学生已对课文有了一定的理解。动员学生提出并组织各小组同学研讨阅读中发现的问题或比较重要的语言点，教师评价学生的研讨并答疑。以下答疑例题供参考：①10 percent discount 打九折。

句中 keep on 和 put 是两个并列谓语，keep on doing sth. 意思是“一直不断做某事”。put … into practice意思是“把……付诸实践”。what they have learned 是宾语从句。with confidence 意思是“自信地，满怀信心地”。

词汇和习语越多，英语就变得越容易。
the more…, the more… “越……就越……”。如：The harder you study, the more you get. 你学习越努力，你获得的就越多。

懂英语口语有困难。
这是一个常用的句式，其结构为：…find + it + adj./ n. + to do sth. 意思是“发现做某事如何”，其中 it 是形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式短语。如：I find it interesting to read English stories every day. 我发现每天读英语故事很有趣。
常用于该结构中的动词还有：make, think, consider, feel 等。
（3） 详读课文，理解细节，待完成阅读后，把学生分成几个小组，利用投
影一个一个给出下列语句，要求学生根据课文内容判断正误，采用小组抢答方式，看哪个小组判断得既快又准。
