摘要：Tracing to Genealogy： Hakka Research as the Object of Discipline （by ZENG Ling？cun）Abstract：In the last three decades, Hakka research was basically carried out by means of duplicating or continuing the ideas of scholars such asLUO Xiang？lin. For various reasons, the discipline proposition of Hakkaology that has been put forward since the 1930s is still in a state of being distin？guished, sanctified and accepted by the main？stream scholarly circles. Promoting tracing to genealogy is not to find a method for the sake of method. In？stead, it involves sorting out academic history, grasping the concrete connotation of Hakka research in a historical perspective, regulating the current situa？tion of research that increasingly loses the line of discussion, and effectively seeking and extracting discipline elements of Hakkaology. Therefore, only bytracing back to “Chongzheng Tongren Genealogy” in the historical context, can one correctly understand the role that the once
ignored Hakka historicalbook has played in improving the academic research of Hakkaology. Only ten years passed from LAI Ji？xi to LUO Xiang？lin, however, the Hakka researchin the early 1930s might have been in another situation without the academic accumulation of the former.Key words： Hakkaology; last three decades; LUO Xiang？lin; tracing to ancient books; Chongzheng Tongren Genealogy
