Geologic Assessment of shale gas Resources

Prerequisite: If the evaluation Basin (evaluation area) has similar oil and gas geological conditions with an analogue basin ( analog area) with clear formation conditions, the oil and gas richness of the two areas is the same.

Hydrocarbon generation and expulsion amount of hydrocarbon source rocks can be estimated

according to oil and gas organic cause theory, the mining factor can be multiplied to know the oil and gas recoverable resources of the study area; The relation between each factor and the oil and gas resource amount should be respectively calculated for different evaluation units in the oil and gas containing system space through detailed analysis of the study area, and finally, the oil and gas resource amount under different possibilities should be calculated.

General Evaluating MethodMethod of Analogue

Method of GeneticMethod of Statistical Analysis

Conclusion: the analogy method is adopted for studying evaluation of shale gas resources under the condition of low degree of exploration.
