It has been named as the host of the 2022 Asian Games, which makes it the third Chinese city to host this event after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010. 杭州亚组 委 (Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee) 课件图片 课件图片 场馆建设 (the construction of the venues) Well, setting up Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee(HAGOC) is the first and foremost task. Shortly after Hangzhou was selected as the host of Asian Games, it was established and put to use. The organising committee, which has 1 office and 12 departments now is responsible for venues, sports, international relations, finance, marketing, volunteer and so on. If you want to know more about the preparatory process, you can click the official website, www.hangzhou2022.cn. Seems the organising committee is very important. Is it the most important part? I’m afraid not, Lucy. Here I’ll show you the most important part, the construction of all the venues for the games. Hangzhou has already started building 33 sports venues. Among them, the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center occupies an important position. Dubbed the “Giant Lotus” by locals, it covers an area of 29 hectares and will be able to seat 80,000 people. Another important building is the Asian Games Village. Located on the south bank of Qiantang River, the Asian Games Village covers 113 hectares and can hold up to 10,000 athletes, 5000 media staff and 4000 referees. It provides facilities and service for accommodation, meals and leisure. As the themes are “green, smart, economical and civilized”, all the buildings will be low-carbon,

All the construction is expected to be completed before March,2021 and 40% of it will be finished this year. Mike, what sports events are included in Hangzhou Asian games? Well, a total of 37 sports events have been confirmed so far with 28 Olympic events like running and swimming and 9 non-Olympic events, including martial arts and skidding. Some other events are still under discussion. Most of the competitions will be held in Hangzhou, while a few events will be held in other cities like Ningbo, Wenzhou and Shaoxing.
