America——A nation with diverse culture

“ America , as we know , is composed of many racial and ethnic groups . ”(Chapter 2. Human Resources : A Nation of Immigrants ) From this text , we can find out that America has the early , the old , the new , the most recent immigrants which means this nation almost includes the people all over the world as well as her culture .

When we talk about the USA , a great number of people will think of her economy or politics . However , compared with financial or politics ， her society and culture catch my attention more . I care more about how those different culture merge but still keep the diversity of themselves .

First of all , the American nation is consist of immigrants , as we all know . When these immigrants who come from all over the world settle at America , their customs will also exist in American society . And their culture and customs will be exchanged when those new Americans communicate with each other . As time goes by , different culture start to merge . With the development of globalization , an increasing number of international students come to America to further their education which provides chances to let the students bring their own culture to American society . At the same time , they receive the education in American ways and they must adjust to these ways . Otherwise , they will have a hard time in USA . What’s more , as the transnational love become more and more popular ，some Asians or Europeans will marry Americans which is another way to bring foreign culture and make them be merged .

Speaking of the diversity , only talk about racial is not enough . Religious play an important role as well . Because America is a country which has the diversity of not only racial but also religious . Christianity ，Catholic ，Hinduism ，ect. are unique medias in spreading culture .

Unlike other Non-immigrant Nation ，American is a typical nation of immigrant . So she has the looser immigration policy . For instance , if want you to be an Italian ，it nearly depends on whether your parents or ancestors are Italians or not . On the

contrary , it’s easier to be an American . There is a sentence from “ USA Naturalization Oath Word ” which is “ that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America ” which means you have the opportunity to be an American as long as you support and defend the constitution and laws of USA .

America , is also a country dominated by English-speaking which is convenient to communicate for the people all over the world and the diverse culture can be exchanged frequently and easily . As is known to us , English is an international language and it can almost be used everywhere in the world which absolutely includes the USA for sure . So if you can speak English , you can talk to Americans then all of you exchange and learn mutual culture which is exactly one method in how the culture spread .

I haven’t been to America till now . However , I went to Canada as an exchange student this summer vacation . As far as I am concerned , Canada is similar to American in some ways . Not only in diverse racial but also in different culture . I always imagine what the real American society really is by my impression on Canada . But I believe that I will feel the diversity of American culture one day in person !
