【摘要】This paper explores the origin of the tragedy All My Sons from the perspective of the other in Bible. The fundamental con?flict lies in that Joe regards all those who are not his family as the other and gives up all the consideration and protection of their benefits. However, Chris includes the young soldiers fighting together on the battlefield in the range of the self. For certain Chris is not any nobler than his father because of this slight difference. But this difference triggers the tragedy owing to Larry's suicide. Lar?ry who was supposed to be in the range of the self chose to stand with the other at the cost of his life. Hence, Joe is greatly shaken. It can be predicted that the seemingly clear boundary between the other and the self for Chris may be blurred or even broken in the future because of the difference between him and his beloved person.
