Unit1 Reading 优教教学设计(一)

设计意图

This is the second teaching period of this unit, aiming to help students get a thorough understanding of the reading material in this unit. The emphasis of this period is the development of the story and the reading skills such as scanning and skimming. Meanwhile, teachers should also focus on some difficult sentences or expressions to make sure that students can understand the passage thoroughly.

教学重点

1. Help the students comprehend the story of Jane GoodalFs protecting the African wildlife.

2. Get the students to learn from Jane GoodalFs story and come to the idea that great personality is of importance to one’s success.

3. Learn and master some important words,phrases and sentence patterns in this period.

教学难点

1. Get the students to comprehend the story and understand what Jane Goodall has done to gain the achievements.

2. Get the students to believe that one’s personality as well as ability is important to one’s success.

→Step 1 Warming up and lead-in

T: Hello, boys and girls! Today we will come to Unit 1,“Women of achievement”. At the 2005 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, an actress of

The

Thousand-handed Goddess of Mercy”impressed us by her performance and especially by her spirit. Do you still remember her name? Who is the lady in the front of the team? Have you seen any performance given by her? Let’s look at the picture.

T: What do you think of the dance “The Thousand-handed Goddess of Mercy”? Do you think it is easy for these dancers to give such an amazing performance? Why is it difficult?

SI :I think the dance is wonderful and I know that Tai is a deaf dancer. So she must work hard in order to perform better before us.

T : What do you think of Tai Lihua? Is she a woman of achievement? Was it hard for her to learn to dance? Why? Do you know any other women of achievement? On Page 1 of your textbook, there are some introductions to six women and Td like you to read them quickly, work in pairs and then tell us which of these women you think is great. Give your reasons for your choice.

S2:I think Joan of Arc is great for her bravery. She dressed as a man and fought for her country.

S3 :I think Song Qingling is great. I admire her for her achievements in improving the living conditions of women and children.
