in late 20th Century,Southeast Asian countries likeSingapore, Malaysia, Thailand,the Philippines, Indonesia andothers have sent Asian wavesacross the world alongsidethe Northeast Asian pioneers.Thanks to the ASEAN regionalgrouping, Southeast Asia hasearned a central role in regionalpolitico-economic cooperationarchitecture, attracting all majorAsia-Pacific powers to negotiatewith the body, even from theIndo-Pacific region. However,while Chinese, Japanese andSouth Korean pop culture hasswept across and beyond theregion in recent years, ASEANcountries seem to be tuning outin recent times.
