An ion-mobility analyser is disclosed comprising a plurality of axially segmented upper electrodes
12a-12g, a plurality of axially segmented lower electrodes 13a-13g, a first plurality of axially segmented intermediate electrodes and a second plurality of axially segmented intermediate
electrodes which together define an ion pathway. An asymmetric voltage waveform is applied to the upper electrodes 12a-12g and a DC
compensating voltage is applied to the lower electrodes 13a-13g in order to separate ions in a vertical radial direction according to their rate of change of ion mobility with electric field strength. At the same time, a DC axial voltage gradient is maintained along the axial length of the analyser in order to separate ions axially according to their ion mobility. 主权项：
